Why is it that a lot of cosmetics brands don't produce shades for darker women?

In the winter I can use the darkest light shade, but in the summer I have to search, search, search for a nice warm caramel foundation. I think about 1 in every 4 makeup lines (drugstore at least) carry colors for women darker than ';tan';. I HATE MAC, so don't tell me to use their stuff, it breaks me out to high hell. Why is it that a lot of cosmetics brands don't produce shades for darker women?
I'm not a woman of Color, but I do know the reason for this is that all companies have a certain demographic. They have people that find out for them who will be purchasing the most of the product, and instead of wasting money on colors that won't sell as well they just don't make them. In other words it's all about them wanting money and not caring about the customers. Why is it that a lot of cosmetics brands don't produce shades for darker women?
walmart is now carring covergirl for darker skin shades now...i think its pretty cool
well because the majority of their customers are white , so they have to sell to them . I feel you pain b/c im just slightly darker than a brown paper bag , and my mom is chocolate . Both of us have a really hard time finding foundation - hence the reason I dont wear it. My mom even went to fashion fair , which is supposedly for women of color , and bought some pressed powder - the darkest shade they had was my shade .

Good luck !
IMAN is a cosmetic line that seems to be mostly for women with darker skin check them out
Quite honestly, I don't see why you're getting so upset over this... Take it as a compliment, maybe the makeup companies just think that people with darker skin tones don't need the added help? In my experience I've seen plenty of companies that don't produce my skin tone, and my skin is fair as can be. The cosmetic industry is not out to get you, I promise.
Bee Luscious. You should check it out. They have many shades to choose from. It is not drugstore but it is well worth the extra cash. I have many ';dark'; skinned friends and most of them use this brand. Just go to www.beeluscious.com. Good luck.
I don't know but It seems you are right. I am lucky I don't have this problem. I would go to some of their websites and complain. If more darker skinned women did this maybe they would listen.
because our world is shtoopid.

there are some lines that make cosmetics exclusively for women of color, but not many.

ahhh, well.

maybe maybellene will see your question!
girl if you are tan then just get a tinted moisturizer... and go for the natural look with bronzer... if you have a beautiful tan show it off...I dont tan I freckle so bless you golden goddess rockit if you gotit!
GENERALLY

your suppose to apply a lighter shade.

we alll have dark spots!

noone is perfect
maybe it's because darker shades call for more pigmentation-pigmentation costs money the more concentrated it is :/ http://www.covergirl.com/beauty_products鈥?/a> here's the link to covergirls foundation site-the darker shades in the pictures seem to be mid page and bottom of the page, they have ';the queen collection'; which queen latifah advertises because it's made for darker skin :)
